We knew this would be a long day (10 hours in total on the bus) and Sweet Tours provided drinks as well as food, although it is advertised that only food would be provided so was a bonus (only on the way up). There were 3 stops on the way in total. The first one was Hoover Dam which was amazing and only about an hour from Las Vegas. However we literally had 10-15 minutes there!! The reason I picked this tour was because the other tour operators' reviews stated that they only had half hour there. I did not think it was long enough so booked this one only to find we had even less time there. I know the Grand Canyon is quite a way away from Las Vegas (more than we thought) but an extra 10-15 minutes just to walk across the dam would have been fantastic. As it was, all we could do in that time was take some photos and nip into the small gift shop. The second stop was a gas refill so stopped at a petrol station/shop on the highway for about 10 minutes to use the lavatory while the bus was re-fueling. The third stop was a wonderful surprise as we stopped at a shop on Route 66. The shop was fantastic. However again we only got to spend 10 minutes there which was ridiculous as I spent most of that time behind a woman who ordered 3 coffees and the woman in the shop, who was by herself, was trying to make them. This left no time to do anything else other than purchase a magnet! There were some other amazing shops in close vicinity but did not even get a chance to glimpse at them. Not a very memorable occasion of Route 66. Again another 10-15 minutes would have been amazing. After a few more hours on the bus we then got to the Grand Canyon and stayed there for a couple of hours which was great. On the way back, we made two stops, the first a local service station just to pick up something to eat/drink for the bus and the second one at the same petrol station as on the way up to refuel.
Overall we got to see these amazing landmarks. However, I know it is a long day but for the sake of another 20-30 minutes to the day to view these amazing landmarks in more detail, tourists would be more than happy to do this. I know we would have. Sweetours, over to you.
