Polynesian adventures is not geared for managing pick up and drop offs at hotels. We were told a pick up time of 1:55pm. We were picked up at 2:52pm. There was no email or text sent. We were waiting for an hour and I called the Polynesian call centre thrice only to be told each time that the shuttle was 15-20mins away. When the shuttle finally came, no reason was given for the delay. We were then transported to another shuttle, only for the driver to apologize to everyone else already on for the delay as if it was our fault. When I asked this second driver named David the reason for the us not getting picked up at the hotel, his only response was “I dont know and I am not responsible” - this was his verbatim response. On the way back from Haleakala, the vehicle broke down with no indication of when a replacement/fix would be made available. We decided to get our own uber so that we could try to make our dinner reservation in time. On the way out, David asks for our last name so that he can cross is off the drop off list. I give him our last name to which he then says “Hold on! Im still tending to other customers”. Not only was he rude, he made it look like we were adding to his troubles. Overall, terrible transportation experience, David is not a great guide since he isn’t well versed/rehearsed, and we didn’t appreciate being spoken to rudely after we had been nothing but understanding since we still made the sunset. Recommend to folks to choose an alternative Haleakala tour operators and if Polynesian is the only one, check in advance of David is your guide.
