They did not warn us that the boat was so small and crowded. We did see the whales but they did not come close to the boat. The operators of the boat just walked around and talked to passengers and did not explain the habitat. Finally the waves were huge and they should not have held the tour, I got sea sick from the turbulence. Even if I took the motion sickness pills they sold

Hello, We are so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. Sometimes we are met with bouncy sea conditions in Monterey Bay as we are exposed to the open ocean & our crew does the best of their ability to warn people ahead of time about conditions so that they may take motion sickness med properly if they are needed. Unfortunately we have no control over how close to the boat the whales come as they are wild animals. We get in the best position possible to view them and then from there it is up to them since the last thing we want to do is to disturb wild animals in their natural habitat. Our boats are smaller for a more intimate experience and allows for plenty of time for Naturalist/guests to interact and get all of their questions answered. Pre booked the tour before we arrived and the tour didn't disappoint. Very knowledgeable guide and even though the weather was misty we got to see whales 😁. The crew took us further offshore to try and get out of the mist, which did clear and again we sighted whales. The boat isn't packed to the rafters with people, so we able to move around quite easily. My wife was unsure about the tour initially but she totally enjoyed it. We would totally recommend discovery whale watch for a fabulous time.
