Family trip, booked the morning run excursion. There are 2 during the day, learned the afternoon is a crap shoot due to winds picking up and making the sea to choppy to view anything over the swells.
So, check in was easy and quick, have coffee, hot coca for guests. Boat was the Chubasco, don't know if there was another one. Skipper was John, Deck Hand Britt and our biologist was Eric .
Britt went thru safety briefing and made sure anyone 6 or below had a life preserver. Explained some motion sickness issues- for the love of Pete- use the back of the boat, not the head (someone didn't listen and ruined one( of two) for the rest of us). Get some motion pills prior and come prepared. The boat is bigger, 40ft(?) compared to a normal charter fishing boat, but a pill would help if you suffer sea sickness
John did an excellent job of getting us to areas where whales/doplhins/other sea life were active or may be active.
Eric was very knowledgeable and was very happy to talk to people and answer all questions he could, learned more about Risso dolphins than I may ever use, but educated.
CAVEAT: This is mother nature! She shows up when she wants- saw Humpbacks, at distance, , Blue Whale spotted, Risso doplhins, sealions, northern seal, otter. Don't run in expecting to see breeches every 10 seconds (got two at distance). But John did his hardest to get us into spots to see everything we could.
Would absolutely recommend this company and come prepared to ask questions, (keep Eric busy)
