Visited on Sept. 12. One of the best adventures I've had!
I'd like to have heard more from the captain, but we did get to hear a little about the area and shrimping laws and techniques from the woman who was also assisting. It was difficult to hear her over the sounds of the boat sometimes, but she readily answered questions.
When the catch was hauled in, we had a lot of fun exploring the variety of sea creatures. I've never seen some of these creatures, much less been able to handle them! We had a great time learning about them and watching the aerial acrobatics of the gulls as we threw anything not a shrimp back. As much as we tried to trick the gulls in order to return still living creatures to the water safely, the gulls got the best of the situation in the end.
This tour was relaxing with the ride out and back, breathtaking with the scenery, fascinating with the experience of the marine life, and disgusting with deheading the shrimp. But, man up and give deheading a try. You get to take some of the shrimp home, so the nastiness is worth it in the end.
Absolutely recommend this experience. Be sure to tip well. It's a blast. Another suggestion: talk to the other people on the boat. It makes everybody's trip more fun. Some people just sat there, even pulling their phones out to look at, not even to take pictures. Betcha they're the ones giving poorer reviews. Come on, people. Enjoy the experience. Share the fun. Savor the time.
