First I want to start by clarifying that I took the tour with my mom on a mother/ daughter weekend trip (it didn’t give a non- teen/ young child family option)
Anyway, the tour was great! I would recommend this to anyone who prefers seeing a city by foot and isn’t afraid to pound the pavement- the tour guide said when we checked in at the start of the tour we’d probably walk a mile but it ended up being a little over 2 miles after the two hours were done. The tour itself covered various squares and historic landmarks, including the river front. I SO appreciated that our tour guide made it a point to cover all of Savannah’s history, including the ugliness of slavery, treatment of native peoples and racial inequality during reconstruction and the Jim Crow era. I think to truly know a city you have to know the good and the ugly and he was not afraid to cover both. Our guide was extremely well spoken, knew so many great interesting facts and really made the tour so enjoyable. I left the tour with a much better understanding of how Savannah came to be the beautiful city is it today.
