Gold, Gold, Gold! Alaska is known for oil and gold. Our guides are familiar with gold panning and the man who first discovered gold in July 1902, starting the Fairbanks Gold Rush. This monument is one of many treasures we are happy to share whenever possible with guests. Please remember we go where the clear skies are and not all guests have the same locations to visit. If you want to learn about Alaskan History, ask our wonderful guides who are happy to share both personal and historical facts and stories.

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point

Here at Aurora in Alaska we go to the best cloud free location each night. One of our favorites stops along the way is the awe-inspiring and historical Alyeska Pipeline. Whenever possible our guides happily share our Alaskan history with oil and take guests up close and personal to the pipeline.

Saw beautiful northern lights when the KP index was around 1 but the sky was clear. The hosts of the tour Mike & Tony were very kind. Mike picked us from our hotel around 10pm, the ride was pretty comfortable. He welcomed us with some energy bars & water bottles then drove to North Pole where rest of the hosts & the team gathered. We went on from there to find the perfect location to witness the magic of lady aurora. After a little bumpy ride we reached the location, the sky was clear & miles away from pollution. Mike & team set up the campfire, chairs & drinks bar, we enjoyed roasting the reindeer hotdogs over the campfire & chatting with other members in the tour. While taking a walk around the area & waiting for the northern lights we asked so many questions to Tony while he was setting up the camera, Tony was very kind & patient with everyone. The lights appeared in sometime & we couldn’t believe our eyes & the photos we were taking, it was pure magic. Tony was kind enough to click multiple pictures with northern lights background for each member, he was very passionate about taking the perfect shot for everyone. When we started the tour the KP was 0 but Mike explained how other factors are responsible for the aurora to show up. Nonetheless, we had a spectacular night. Thank you to Mike, Tony & team for this unforgettable experience.

There are many factors when discussing the solar flares that create the auroras and how to know where to be and when. One word Amazing! Nick and Prescott (aka Buddy the Elf) were great tour guides from the moment we got picked up to drop off they were so kind, knowledgeable and friendly. Nicole was also great as I had called to switch my day and with no questions or hesitation she took care of the switch for us. The lights were perfect 2hrs of just amazing views. I highly recommend this company as they do their research and provide you the best show possible!

I was able to watch a 2-hour or longer Northern Lights show. It was amazing, I have no words to truly describe the experience. We saw the lights dancing, running, and bursting. Andrew was very helpful and patient with me showing me how to set up my Android cell phone to take decent pictures. I loved having the chairs around the campfire along with the sausages and drinks at our disposal. All in all it was a perfect night.
