The forest floor is bountiful with all kinds of Flora and Fauna and depending on the time of season its not unusual to see deer or or salmon swimming up stream. So we made the trip to the trailhead half the adventure in itself. And how could we not stop along the shoreline of the sea along the way back? It's not unheard of to see Porpoises, Seals and Sea Lions or sometimes Humpbacks from the beach.

Undertook this tour when visiting Ketchikan as part of a cruise itinerary. Office of the company was very easy to find and located almost opposite our cruise berth, from where we were taken on a 20-30 minute drive to the e-bike location on a nearby peninsula. Me and my wife own e-bikes at home so had no problem adapting to this slightly different design of throttle control electric power, rather than pedal assist. Our small party of 4 were guided by Danielle, who took up the rear to shepherd us along the highway and warn of approaching cars. The e-bikes were fun and capable of decent speeds with the throttle assist electric support. However the route along the 5 miles to the rain forest location was not particularly inspiring, being a standard quiet highway road with woods on either side. Leaving the bikes at the roadside, Danielle then led us through the atmospheric rain forest path. ‘Hike’ may be a slight exaggeration, being a fairly gentle 1 mile stroll through the well-maintained boardwalk in the forest. That said, the forest was a magical and atmospheric environment with its collection of trees, some ancient, flora and fauna. We have plentiful lichen and mosses in our little native Island, but nothing to match the rich volume and variety in this rain forest setting. The weather was kind to us, meaning the dappled sunlight created wonderful effects on the interior of the forest. Danielle was helpful and informative, although I did slightly get the impression that she was relieved to be on her last tour of the day after a full day of cruise and school party tours. I was particularly intrigued to hear of her Tlingit lineage and the crafts she had learnt in childhood using the cedar bark. Overall, a fun and informative tour, with the highlight being the 1 mile stroll through the special ecosystem of the rainforest. Total duration of the tour, including the drive to and from Ketchikan town, was approx 3 hours.

We had a great time today. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. We have never road an ebike before but felt very comfortable and safe using the bikes. Thank you to Tim and the guides Melissa and Carl. Carl was the lead guide for the bike tour and Melissa was in the back making sure no one was left behind. Once the road ended, we parked the bikes and Melissa took the lead in the hiking portion. Melissa is a wealth of knowledge about the the rain forest and its ecosystem. Once back, we were all treated to some local beers and smoked salmon, a nice surprise. We elected not to use a cruise sponsored excursion in Ketchekan and were not disappointed with this private company. They were professional, safety conscious and made sure we got back to our ship on time. Thank You again for great memories! Greg O.

Loved the hike through the forest! There were 5 of us total including the guide Danielle which made it extra special. Danielle was super knowledgeable about the plants and trees and answered all of our questions. My husband and I are avid cyclist and we really enjoyed the e-bikes, they were fun to ride and made the hills super easy. We would definitely recommend this tour.
