Florida Keys

From our sun deck, you will have a panoramic offshore view of the Florida Keys and can view the ever-changing colors of the Atlantic Ocean. Once we reach the reef, you will be able to observe the coral reef through our large viewing windows, which are large enough for everyone to observe the reef at the same time and are located along the center of the boat and installed flat so there is no distortion other than what nature creates. Everything you see on our tour is or was alive and the reef itself is built off of many varieties of living coral and teems with an assortment of sea life. Your tour guide will be able to point out all kinds of sea creatures which may include sea fans, sea plumes and hundreds of fish ranging from small tropical to larger species sought after by local fishermen.

Reserved through visitor center with a deposit. On arrival at the Holiday Inn went to the gift shop and finished paying then went to the dock as we were told to be there at 3:30 for 4:00 trip. The check in at boat was pretty smooth and then boarding started right at 4. There is an air conditioned lower deck where you can sit and an open top deck where you can get drinks and snacks. If you want to sit inside you were required to wear a mask. It was about a 45 min trip to the reef and everyone went downstairs to crowd around the 2 areas where the glass bottoms were located. The crew member gave some history of the reef as well as fish that were seen and even got to see a Nurse shark and turtle. We were at the reef probably 15 min or so then headed back. It was a decent trip and a good way to get out on the water. The cost was $40 for adults which wasn’t terrible for about a 2 hour boat ride. The African Queen is also docked right behind this boat.

We went with 2 other couples and had a great time. If you are a prone to seasickness, it was a bit rough. This takes you to the coral reef and the day was windy with choppy water. Only a handful of guests could stay downstairs to see the reef and fish. I know I get seasick so I didn’t attempt to go downstairs. But this trip was for my friend that hasn’t been on a boat. It was worth it. The water is gorgeous, the guides were informative, the drinks were yummy. I would do this again in a heartbeat. It was a cheap great way to spend some time.

Crew was helpful and nice. Sad part is the description of the tour doesn’t state this is a reef education tour. There was no marine life seen in this tour. I recall the Key West tour I attended sevyyears ago wAs so much more alive and colorful.

Sridhar, thank you for the rating, sorry that Mother Nature and King Neptune didn't feel like putting on much of a show at the time of your trip, it is nature in action and sometimes nature does not have any action.
