Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

Did not believe in spirits or ghosts before tour. But cannot explain a photo I took with ectoplasm column and orbs clearly showing where I saw nothing. Susan was an entertaining storyteller and it was a fun way to spend the evening

Thank You for joining us on the Key West Ghost & Mysteries Tour! Susan does do a great job, her enthusiasm for the subject is contagious! I like to describe myself as an "open minded skeptic", when something unusual occurs (which is quite often) I look for every reasonable and rational explanation. But I find it fascination when we just run out of explanations! That's what keeps us exploring the haunted history of our little island! Thanks again, I'm glad you had a good time!

Ted was a great tour guide! Anyone interested in ghosts and history must do this. I enjoyed the hands on experience and the small group. I appreciate his understanding of those who may be a little scared and apprehensive - my youngest daughter was one of those. Can't wait to come down and take the tour again. Thanks again Ted from the family of 5.

We had our tour with Ted. Ted is a great storyteller and is really passionate about paranormal investigation. I myself am a skeptic but enjoyed hearing him talk about his hobby and passions and he showed us some of the tools of the trade for a paranormal investigator. There are several stops around Key West, the tour is easily walk-able and the walk between spots is a great time to talk with Ted and ask more questions about the island or about paranormal investigation. As I stated above, Ted is a great storyteller and really knows how to build anticipation in the story. He has a good sense of humor when dealing with people who had been a bit too "spirited" themselves. We had one person on the tour who wasn't paying much attention but would ask questions about something Ted had already covered and another who was ruining the pacing of the story by asking questions about what happened in the story before Ted had even finished. He was very patient and his replies to these people were just the right amount of sarcasm to make the rest of the group laugh without being rude to the guests. The beginning of the tour had us trying to take photos of ghosts with our phones and using some of the tools you see on paranormal shows to try to talk/communicate with spirits. As we moved around the island, the tour begins to become much more about the island's stories. So if you don't like the portions about paranormal investigation, there's still a lot of good stories as well. The places you stop can still be really close to Duval, so there were a couple times it was hard to hear due to loud people and motorcycles, but that's no fault of the tour guide. Thanks Ted for an enjoyable evening!
