Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

Let me first say that l've been on several different and enjoyable ghost tours in various cities so l do feel safe in saying that this tour was truly awful and a real disappointment. I was expecting a walk through Old Town with brief stops at places which had reported hauntings along with their respective "ghost stories" regarding prior occupants and sightings. However, Ted, our guide, wasted a great deal of tour time merely attempting to convince us of the reality of paranormal phenomena (which l did not need). For example, we were asked to take numerous photos in order to find orbs or apparitions, to perform childish "experiments", as well as to review his personal photograph album from prior tours. The first 45 minutes of the tour was spent just standing in place at the Oldest House doing the above activities with maybe one minute devoted to an actual story regarding the home's history and ghostly sightings. Our second stop was at an old cemetary, this time with zero actual ghost stories or any relevant ghost history being related. At this point, now a full hour into the tour, l was disgusted, hot and bored so l left. I stopped by the tour booth on Duval in hopes of getting my money back but unfortunately it was closed.

Thank You for joining us on the Key West Ghost & Mysteries tour. I'm sorry to hear you did not have a good experience, we do strive to provide our guests with the best haunted experience on the island each evening. Apparently this time we missed the mark and did not live up to your expectations. As they say,"You can't please all of the people all of the time", but we do try our best. If you would like a refund, please contact me directly at [email protected] and I'll make sure it's taken care of promptly. Thanks again!

I have done a couple ghost tours during my time here in Key West and Ted was by far the best story teller. You can tell he is passionate about the subject and does a great job explaining the subject as well as story telling. I especially appreciated that he wasn't afraid to put obnoxious tour goer's in their place as the rest of the guest would like to hear and experience the authentic experience. Ghosts and such do fascinate me (that's why we did another tour) yet make me nervous and as he asked me to participate in a couple experiences he did a nice job making me feel more comfortable. Please do bring cash though because I was not intelligent and did not and was unable to tip him which made me feel horrible. But if creepy stories or ghost activity interest you I would certainly recommend Ted and this tour! Great job and Thank you!

Thank You for joining us on the Key West Ghost & Mysteries tour! Ted does do a great job, both he and Susan have a passion for Key West's haunted history which they shared with our guests. Each night is a unique experience, so perhaps we'll have a chance to see you again in the future. Thanks Again, I'm glad you had a great time!
