Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

I go on ghost tours pretty frequently and when my mom and I booked a trip to Key West I knew I had to book a ghost tour. We chose this company based on the Tripadvisor ratings and yet again, Tripadvisor did not let me down. Susan, our guide, was fantastic. She was matter of fact and straight to the point. She told stories in a way that was interesting and engaging but left us to make our own conclusions. The whole tour was very well done. Something to note, a couple in my tour group actually caught a picture of a ghost! The stories were so scary I got chills a couple times and I do not scare easily. The creepy history of Key West is fascinating and I highly recommend this tour if you are open minded and want to hear some different history about this great city. You walk quite a bit and what seems pretty far so make sure you wear some good shoes and bring bug repellant. The mosquitoes were out the night I went.

My fiance and I went down to the keys for the first time for our anniversary this past weekend. I read on this website about Ted and how great this tour was and needless to say, my fiance and I were both very excited. We registered with the very nice attendant earlier that day for two tickets. He was courteous, informative and energetic about the tour. I believe his name was Nico. Later that evening we showed up at 8:30 and went to check in only to find that while we thought we had purchased two tickets, there was a cleric error and only one ticket had been registered. The owner was VERY accommodating and simply let us both in. He never mentioned that we had really only purchased one ticket, he just smiled and said it must have been an error and waived us on in. (We went back later that night to find that we had indeed only purchased ONE ticket per the reciept. It was robert the doll for sure). Ted introduced himself to us and shook our hands. You can tell that he is not a guide going for spooks and thrills and takes his job seriously. He walked us from historical site to site and gave us very interesting stories specific to the locations. He showed us photographic evidence and taught us how to distinguish orbs, mists and the like from camera glare. We never told him that we were experienced hunters ourselves and that we had a passion for the paranormal, that being said, he was incredibly informative in regards to the equipment he used (Ovilus II I think it was called). Overall, the ethics of this organization, the commitment and excellence of the tour guide ted and the family friendly and inviting atmosphere made this for the perfect Saturday night outing in the keys. I would highly recommend this tour for families, kids and the paranormal curious. - Ian
