Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

After arriving home from our trip to Key West, I asked my wife what the most memorable thing about Key West was. “What will you remember, many years from now, about Key West?” I asked. We both agreed; it will be the Key West Ghost and Mysteries tour and the interesting and knowledgeable tour guide. Our tour guide Ted doesn’t need a black cape or top hat to be the real thing. Ted made our paranormal journey fun and interesting. Even if you have no interest in the paranormal, you should take this tour because you will learn a lot about the history of Key West. It’s really not an excessive amount of walking so you can still wear your flip flops, but do bring a camera. We did capture some strange things with our camera. The tour is a ninety minute walking tour. If possible, take a walking ghost tour instead of a trolley tour and I do recommend Key West Ghost and Mysteries. Taking a trolley tour is like flying over Monument Valley. You need to walk among the ghosts. You need to feel your senses come alive with a tingling and you can only do that by getting up close and personal.

I visited Key West a few years ago with my family and stumbled upon this tour. My mom and I were so freaked out by some of the stories that we ended up re-walking the tour by ourselves afterwards. Club Chameleon was the most interesting! When we went back by ourselves, we heard scratching and tapping on the windows! It was so scary!! Anyways, I loved this tour so much that I had to take my friends on it during our trip. Ted is an awesome guide and knows a lot about Key West and its history. Not only does he tell you a ghost story, he tells you interesting facts about the island. He truly believes in what he does and will tell you not to believe everything you think you see. This tour is not like the trolley tours or the ones that dress up in Halloween costumes and try to scare you. This tour is more like your own investigation for paranormal activity around some of the ghostly hot spots in Key West. Make sure you bring a camera! Be prepared to take lots of pictures! Maybe you will be lucky enough to catch a ghost on camera.

If you have the time and want to take a ghost tour I highly recommend this one. Make sure you ask for Ted to be your guide. He has lived on the island for 15 years and knows all about the history of the place. He is knowledgeable and professional. There are no gimmicks. He doesnt dress up and feed you lines of BS. This is a walking tour, no trolleys involved so be prepared and wear comfortable shoes. It will last about 90 minutes. Take your camera, take lots of pictures and you will be surprised at what you have show up at the end. This guy is legit. He is a paranormal investigator (not like the reality shows on tv). His job is to debunk stories but it is kind of hard when you take a picture back to back and in one you have 30 orbs show up and the immediate next....gone. Go into this with an open mind and a willing energy and you will be amazed and surprised. You will enjoy this tour. I have been on several and Teds, by far is the best one.
