Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

This was my first ghost tour and Southernmost Ted was amazing. Very personable and interesting. Asked about our own personal experiences (if we had any) and was excited to see the pictures we had gotten. I had a blast :)

We did the Ghosts and Mysteries Tour on Sunday 6/3 and thought it was excellent! Our guide was Southernmost Ted and he was a fantastic guide, very personal and offering plenty of stories, information and history regarding the haunts of Key West. I liked how this particular tour did not have any gimmicks - no theatrics, guides in makeup, etc. We walked to several locations and heard the stories pertinent to those locations, each of them very interesting. We also all took pictures to see if we might see 'orbs' in our photos, and we definitely had some interesting images in our photos. I am skeptical about all the spiritual/ghost stuff, but I definitely found it to be very creepy. I had wondered how a group getting together for a ghost tour in Key West would be (especially with all the drunks at the end of Duval Street where the tour begins), but everyone in our tour group seemed genuinely interested in the tour. This tour was one of the highlights to our trip to Key West and is highly recommended!

Eight of us reserved this tour in advance and paid in full on arrival. Personally, I felt the whole group (about 25) was too big for the tour, as not everyone can hear or see what is being discussed on the tour. I supposed they want the money, so they don't limit the number of individuals. Anyway, after two stops our tour guide took as back to Duval St., which was very crowed with people. As we entered the street, our group lost sight of the guide in the crowd and we turned the wrong way. Realizing we were separated, we quickly turned back in the other direction to catch up, but never found them. We headed accross the street (since their kiosk) was nearby, to ask for assistance or directions to the next stop, so we could run and catch up. We were informed that there was no specific order for the tour, so he didn't know where they were. I asked if he could take a guess as to what was the next closed "haunted" site, and he said "all of Key West is haunted". Well, I did not find this amusing, since we paid $18 and saw two so-called haunted areas and then got lost! I asked if he could call the guide and he said "no". I felt really bad because and elderly couple was behind us on the tour (following us), so now they were lost too. I pointed this out to the employee and said "well, how about you give us our $18 back?" He stared at me shocked and said "I don't have authority to do that." I glared, and he got on his cell phone, a presume to contact someone. We continued to scan up and down the busy street for any sign of our tour group. By now, it had been 10 minutes. We were so irritated we just gave up and walked off. My friend tried called another woman in our group (that didn't get separated from the tour). We had hoped she could tell us were to meet them. She picked up her cell phone and promptly hung up. We later found out she was severely scolded by the tour guide for taking a call during the tour. She said it was really embarrassing because he stopped talking to single her out as being rude! To say the least it was a very bad experience and they made no effort to rectify it. I would not recommend this company. Perhaps one of the others would do a better job of customer service.
