Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

I've taken 3 ghost tours in Key West. 2 through this company, and one through a competitor. I've learned my lesson, and shan't go back to the competitor. The guy booking our tour gave us a great discount and even recommended the best guide, Ted. While the other tour guides at other companies have to dress up and act silly, Ted was very well informed, both historically and spiritually. He knew much about the history of florida, even outside of key west. Giving us a wide variety of stories, from hauntings to spirits to dolls to just weird things in general. If you ever plan on taking a ghost tour in key west, do it through this company, and find out when Ted is working!

Ted was our tour guide and was a great story teller. This tour is not only about history, but it's a ghost-hunter tour so you can encounter the spirits. He had us take pictures to see if any spirits were in the photos (looking for orbs and such). One guy on the tour did get a picture with a lot of ghost activity. They did have pictures of the people in the ghost stories (although I think they need to maybe laminate them bc they were getting blurry from moisture). The tour was about 2 hours, and conviently landed in front of Key Lime pie shoppe. It was great. But if you want a ghost tour with theatrics, I wouldn't choose them. If you want a historical tour with some adventure then this is for you!

We often take so called night watch man tours in different countries, historic cities etc--Quebec, Halifax, Rothenberg. You get the picture. As they do provide great entertainment combined with historic tidbits of the places your visiting. Often times the tours are even given by a very knowledgeable professor. There are 2 tour companies in Key West offering these types of tours we chose this one only because they had a sales man on the street and his pitch sounded interesting. He called their tours the "believers" tour--okay?? On these types of tours you normally get the history of the city your in intertwined with interesting stories and tragedies that have happened. This tour was very long and slow mostly focusing on the people in our tour group and what they were feeling or had they ever felt anything (ghosts, spirits, etc). Just not what we had paid for. Can't say that we really cared what the person standing next to us was feeling. Just give us the facts. That being said did get a couple of interesting stories, but would recommend trying the other company or just buying a book on the dark history of Key West. It would have to be much more informative and complete. All 3 of us walked away feeling it was definitely a waste of time and money--sorry.
