I drove across country with my son to deliver him to his summer internship in Los Angeles. This was the first activity in LA and what a great start to the summer. Our guide, Mike, was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. He gave us great stories about the history of Venice Beach, plus insights into the food (like how we were eating at the very place Poke first set foot on the mainland!), the architecture, the real estate market, the colorful graffiti, the even more colorful people, the local businesses, and local gossip! Mike is also an author of crime novels, podcasts, and crime TV shows and was a great source of info about showbiz in LA. Did I mention the food was fantastic! My son and I agree it was all good, but we were especially impressed with the cheese enchilada that started off the tour. I've had many an enchilada in my day and was not expecting to be surprised by the rich flavors of the enchilada at El Tabasco, a small family run place, just off the main drag.
All in all a great way to spend 3 hours with your family learning about the food and culture and people of Venice Beach and LA! Thanks, Mike for a great tour!
