My friend and I went to the city for one night to see a concert at MSG. We have friends who live there and have visited enough to do all of the main "touristy" activities. We had no time limit for going home the next day and were looking for something cool to do before we left. We're both foodies and LOVE trying new food that we've never had before, so after perusing Tripadvisor for a little bit, we came across a food tour. I did a little research (there are so many different tours) and after reading reviews and descriptions, we landed on this tour, Sidewalk Food Tours, both based on price and the number of stops that were advertised (at least 6). Due to some delayed transit, we arrived about 10 minutes late in a little bit of a panic but were greeted by our tour guide, Matt, who was waiting for us outside of the first restaurant, Yonah Schimmel Knish. Our tour was amazing!! Matt took us to 8 locations and most of them were restaurants that have been around since the early 1900's, passed down from generation to generation. Each place he took us to made me feel like I was traveling back in time as they had a lot of the original architecture and it just seemed like "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." We got to try a lot of food that I have never heard of. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and a great tour guide! He was very organized and knew a lot about the area and the places that he was taking us to. I would definitely recommend this trip to any traveler who is eager to try restaurants unique to the location you're traveling that you wouldn't necessarily know to find on your own. Also, you're not skimped out on the portion sizes. More often than not, we have a little left over from each tasting to be passed around again amongst the group and we definitely felt like we got our money's worth. You won't leave hungry to make sure to arrive with an appetite!

Our guide, Matt, was knowledgeable and organized while still laid back. We were lucky enough to have great weather that kept getting better. The food was delicious and tasty. Around 15 people on our tour. There was plenty of food to go around and it turned into a substantial lunch. Matt made arrangements to accommodate a vegetarian participant at each stop. The tour ended right on time which was great as we had pre-purchased tickets to the Tenement Museum. I appreciated that as we've been on tours before that ran late that would have made us miss multiple food stops if we'd had to bail early. 5 stars...

We took the Lower East Side Tour today. Matt was our wonderfully fantastic guide! What a great tour and amazing food! The tour was rich in history and knowledge and all of the locations welcomed us with open arms and knew Matt well! There was seating at all locations so although a lot of walking, it was nicely broken up by being able to sit and enjoy the tastings of delicious food! Thank you Matt!
