First, let me say we are not normally tour people, we prefer to go at our own pace. However, we only had 1 day available to see MV during our Boston trip, so this seemed like our best option. This was a 12 hr day - 7:00am-7:00pm. We opted to include the 3-hr guided island tour.
PROS - Picked up and dropped off at our Boston hotel. Good way to see a lot of the island without having to rent a car & drive all day. Offered snacks and water on the shuttle to/from the ferry. Stopped half way for a potty break.
CONS - Must follow the tour agenda. 3-hr tour was on an old school bus. NO STOP in Oaks Bluff, saw the gingerbread cottages while driving by. Way too much time in Vineyard Haven (least pretty town) at the end. Would have much rather had some of that time in Oaks Bluff.
In hindsight, I would have probably been happier taking the shuttle/ferry service, then using the public buses to see the island. I was very disappointed that we had NO TIME at Oaks Bluffs and way too much time at my least favorite Vineyard Haven.

Thank you for taking some of your valuable time to review our service to Martha's Vineyard from Boston. Martha's Vineyard is a very seasonal island, because of this, our trip changes quite dramatically from in season (mid May thru September) to off season (April and October). Since you took our trip in late October the only ferry operating that time of year (The Steamship Authority) docks in the town of Vineyard Haven thus that is where you spend a good portion of your time. During the summer the Island Queen ferry docks in the town of Oak Bluffs thus allowing our guests much more time to spend in that town. Thank you again for the review.
