Unforgettable Dog Sledding Adventure – A Must-Do in Alaska!
I booked a last-minute tour with AK Sled Dog Tours in Talkeetna, and it turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of my 10-day Alaska vacation. I am so glad I went!
The facility is huge, and while there are a lot of dogs, every single one looks happy, healthy, and well cared for. The guides are true dog lovers who are passionate about their work and eager to share their knowledge.
The tour began with a warm welcome inside a cozy guest house, where we learned about Dallas Seavey and the incredible world of sled dog racing. We then had the opportunity to visit the younger dogs and puppies before heading to the sledding area.
The actual sled ride was nothing short of magical. With two people per sled, we were given our own team of eager, energetic dogs, and then we were off—gliding through forested trails and open fields. It felt like stepping back in time to an old Alaskan adventure, where the only sounds were the wind, the soft padding of paws on snow, and the excited barks of the sled dogs. No noisy snowmobiles—just pure, exhilarating mushing.
Dallas Seavey's love for his sport and his animals is evident in every detail of this experience. It's no surprise he’s won the Iditarod so many times! Our brief time at AK Sled Dog Tours left us with a newfound appreciation for this incredible sport, and we were even lucky enough to attend the 2025 Iditarod Ceremonial Start afterward.
To top it all off, I actually lost an important earring that day and called after hours to see if it had been found. Amazingly, Dacia messaged me the very next morning to let me know it had been discovered! She had it ready to return to me that same day—what incredible kindness and customer service. Thank you, Dacia!
Thank you, AK Sled Dog Tours, for an unforgettable experience! You’ve gained a new fan base—we’ll be cheering from afar and reliving these memories for years to come.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!
