Admission was $31.00. Nothing was open including one of the ships. It was like a ghost town. Perhaps April is considered off season. It would have been nice to know that when we bought the tickets. The planetarium had special exhibits but that was an extra $8.00 in addition to the $31.00 admission. The movie/video in the lighthouse wasn’t working. We saw one employee in one of the buildings explaining how barrels were made but that was it. We didn’t see any other staff. There was a board map near the main building but no printed maps. So we were left to wander around. There are four in our family…. $124.00 that could have been spent elsewhere. Don’t waste your time or money.

We are so sorry that you had a less-than-exceptional experience at Mystic Seaport Museum and appreciate the valuable feedback in your review. We make a considerable effort in determining our prices. We want all of our guests to feel like they got a great value when they visit and in your case we fell short. It is true that April is not the peak of our visitation season, however there were numerous demonstrations and points of interest to visit on the day of your visit but it appears they were not clearly communicated to you. This is where I think we fell short. For example, we hand out a seasonal "map & guide" at our entrances to help our guests navigate the 19 acre campus. For some reason this did not happen on your visit which sets things up for confusion and frustration. Each day we post a list of daily demonstrations on electronic boards as well as post schedules on 3 navigation stations which are meant to direct guests on their self-guided exploration of the museum. Furthermore we staff areas like the Henry B. DuPont Preservation Shipyard, Museum Village and North Campus Exhibits with professional docents and artisans. These staffed spaces are indicated by blue and yellow signal flags posted outside of the buildings. It appears that this was not communicated either. Lynne I will be sharing your review with my team at our staff meeting this weekend in the hopes to improve how we deliver our information to our guests and I would like to make things right with you and your family. At your convenience I would appreciate to have this opportunity and would like for you to call me at the museum at (860) 572-0711. Very Respectfully, Gabriel Gresko

Traveling to Connecticut was a delightful experience filled with charming coastal towns, stunning landscapes, and a rich tapestry of history. From exploring the quaint streets of Mystic to marveling at the picturesque beauty of the Connecticut River Valley, every moment was filled with awe and wonder. The state's vibrant culture, diverse culinary scene, and welcoming atmosphere made it a memorable destination worth visiting again and again.
