Jackson Square
This authentic mode of transportation will help you time-travel back to the 1700s and 1800s when death and disease were rampant due to devastating fires, floods, murders, and more! Being that there are only 8-passengers on-board the carriage, the mule-drawn adventure is more intimate and unforgettable. The carriage-driving tour guides are top-rated licensed guides who have been sending chills down spines for over 75 years. Meet and board at the carriage stand located at 700 Decatur Street. As your carriage departs from Jackson Square, your driver/guide will regale you with stories of the city's founding as the carriage passes through the historic French Quarter street.
2
French Quarter
Travel past landmarks such as Saint Louis Cathedral, Jackson Square, Napoleon House, and more as the carriage wind through New Orleans' oldest neighborhood, the French Quarter. Expect stories that are both historical, entertaining and appropriate for all visitors. It's important to understand the history so that you can understand the spirits that haunt the buildings. New Orleans is considered to be the most haunted city in America. Countless tragedies have happened right in the French Quarter, including devastating floods and fires killing thousands, contagious epidemics resulting in thousands of deaths, and other odd occurrences like weird human torture experiments, medical experiments, love lost, and more. These stories have been documented in police records and history books, and some can be quite alarming! You'll learn about the stories, then about how the "spirits" are letting people know that they are still very present! Do you have goosebumps yet?

We were in New Orleans for my husband's medical conference. Since he was in class from 8AM until 5PM each day, this was his only opportunity to play tourist and learn something of the area. Matt and mule, Magnolia (who was only on her 4th day on the job), did a great job of presenting a great overview of the French quarter, surrounding area and giving us lots of interesting information from over 300 years ago to current time...in a very entertaining format. For anyone who loves a good haunted story, lots of tidbits were provided for digestion. This was a very worthwhile experience.

This is both an excellent tour of the French Quarter and a ghost tour as well. Spooky sites as well as various haunted mansions were highlighted. History of the families and buildings is part of the tour. It was an excellent value as it was a lot better than walking, which in the summer months is something that should be taken into consideration. I did also do a walking tour that morning that I should have skipped in favor of the mule ride only. Our guide was James who was originally from Boston. Very funny, with a dry sense of humor that we appreciated. Very nice older gentleman who fielded my daughter's MANY questions. He also knew quite a bit about the city and sites. The mule's name was Pearl. My daughter was allowed to pet her and to get her picture taken with her. It was a fun hour or so. I would recommend. P.S. You can book online or simply walk up. Look for the carriages lined up in front of Jackson Square and the NOLA steps. You can't miss it.

My elderly mother and I had to climb into the very back row (we were given a stepstool only after asking for one). We couldn't hear most of what the guide said from back there and he didn't seem interested in speaking any louder after being asked a couple of times. So we only heard about half the tour. When the tour was over our guide didn't get out of the carriage so I had to find and set up the step stool again for my mother. He seemed very disinterested in his job. Might be time for him to retire. We didn't catch his name because we couldn't hear but we probably would have enjoyed it more with a different guide.

Hi Kelley M, It pains us to hear that you found our tour anything less than best. We would love to speak with you personally to get a better idea of the circumstances and who the guide was. Please let us know if this is possible. Thank you.
