We arrived late in Newport First stop at every large town is the visitors/ welcome center. Upon arriving we were greeted by each person in which we passed. All very warm and welcoming.
We signed up for the Viking tour 3:00 pm the last one for the day. It's 90 minutes and gives a great over view of the area. The tour included the Ocean drive, view of the cliff walk, Mansions, Fort Adams, Brenton State Park, as well as many homes such as Dwight Isenhour, Jackie Kennedy's childhood home, Historical churches and homes within the city. Well worth the cost .
2 Seniors the total was $47.00. What we didn't realize it you have to pay to park the visitor center tells you they will take off the first half hour if you get the parking ticket stamped. We did this. Still the parking cost $10.50 for 2 hours. My suggestion is to find a metered parking space or ride public transportation to the center. The staff is all very helpful and love to share about their city. Here's another tip. Plan your tour on Monday if possible as they offer reduced rates then.
