The tour guide was lovely and very informative. She really knew a lot about Newport and tried to give as much info as she could. unfortunately time was of the essence and though many sights were pointed out, there was no real time to see the sights while on the trolley ride. The seats were very uncomfortable and hard, The mansion tours were very interesting and inspired feelings of awe at the sheer ornate and beautiful décor and size of these temples to capitalism. We were disappointed that the actual day to day was not in sight. No accommodations noted for horses, although the history tells stories of beautiful horses and carriages. Knowing the history of the capitalists who built these homes as "summer cottages" for their use for 12 weeks of partying but did nothing for the employees who worked for them, really attests to the decadence of the time. Also to the ability of the common man in the United States to rise above their station and create the idea that this country can grow great in defiance of the decadence of these over the top capitalists who could have and should have had more empathy for the "other than" of Lady Astor's list of the 400 people that she would deign to know.

We had a wonderful time! Ray, the trolley driver was so informative and made it an enjoyable trip! Also my booking mistakiingly got double booked and Viator was so easy to deal with and made sure I was refunded the extra booking payment promptly. Thank you so much!
