I live in New York, went to college in NYC and frequent Manhattan for dinner, shows, and museums. This sounded interesting enough and it was. Full of tidbits of informstion. Very enjoyable. Very knowledgeable guide. However, the tour takes place in the common areas that are well travelled by people using the terminal. I was disappointed that we weren't brought to more "less travelled" areas. There were a couple, but not as many as the price led me to believe. In retrospect, it was overpriced. I would be ok with $20-$25 per person, but not over $30.

Thank you for your feedback Irene! We try to explain as clearly as possible in our event description and email reminders that our tour goes to places which are all opened to the public since the security measures in the terminal have been enhanced. I will make sure we make this as even clearer to future guests as we want expectations to be set before our guests join the tour. I am an architect and forever getting escorted out of the back rooms of conference centers, construction sites, and cathedrals because of my curiousity. It was great to actually have permission to go behind the scenes. While I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a bit more "behind the scenes" stuff, our guide, Jeff, had a plethora of photos and brought us to some places we'd never dreamed existed. We had three children under 13 with us and they were enthalled too.

Thank you very much! Untapped Cities founder is an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University so we love to have architects in our audience and on our tours. Grand Central now forbids access to off-limits places within the Terminal due to enhance security measures. We are trying to make this very clear in our tour description and email reminders and will keep working on this in order to make sure guest know what to expect when they join our tour. If you are looking for off-limits experience, I would highly recommend these other tours of ours: - VIP Tour of the Woolworth Building led by Cass Gilbert's great grand-daughter. As an architect and off-limit explorer I think you would love it. - Hard Hat Tour of Ellis Island's Abandoned Hospital, usually off-limits to the public. Amazing space, especially if you are a photographer and history lover. Hope you can join us again soon and thank you again!

Great tour for NYC history lovers and train travel lovers. Much interesting history given. Tour guide had a nice personality mix of info,humor, empathy to folks on the tour and seemed strongly interested in her subject matter. ONLY issue for older folks (whom I could see struggling) was the noise level is so intense in the terminal that people could not hear her at all times. However, she tried hard!
