The Oak Alley plantation tour is one of the most magnificent plantation tours near New Orleans because of the 28 evenly spaced, huge Oak Trees that go from the river road to the Plantation House. The Greek Revival home dates back to 1837. Located on the grounds is a restaurant, blacksmith shop, Souvenir Shop and antique farm equipment. Next up is an airboat tour - hold onto your hat! Our New Orleans Airboat Swamp Tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour and part ride. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our airboats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. So, every airboat seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife.

On this tour, you will experience the best of both: an informative swamp tour and high speed thrill airboat ride. You will travel at high speeds in the airboat then slow down and stop for pictures. Your Captain will give you a tour of a life time explaining the culture, animals, and the swamps. You may even experience a close encounter with some of the local swamp life. Please note: the order of the combination tours may change based upon availability and weather.

The plantation tour guide was amazing, very knowledgeable. However there was not even close to enough time to see everything available on the tour. The bus driver, where do I start! The drive to the plantation was fine but from the plantation to the meeting with the other bus was horrendous!! The driver was more worried about his radio and playing music and 'dancing' to it than driving! He was barely watching the road, driving way too fast and at one point he was eating potato chips actually tilting the bag up to his lips with his head tilted back! He was driving over the dividing line and the on coming traffic had to move over on the shoulder to go by! Terrifying!! But we finally changed buses and drivers. That lady was great! The airboat ride and swamp tour was fantastic and our guide Captian Ernie was wonderful! Very entertaining!

So, heres the reality of this tour. The Oak Alley Plantation offers 2 great photos at best. You only get to visit 4 rooms in the home and there is little to see. The grounds have some beautiful trees but offer little else. A few slaves quarters to see from doorways with brief history. The best part was the ride out driver and the gift shop. The airboat ride was actually awful. Instead of a nice ride through the swamp, it was a few strategic stops to rev the engines, calling out the gators who are now trained to respond to be pelted with marshmallows and taunted with chicken. My whole group walked away feeling like we need to do better as a society than treating wildlife like circus monkeys. If you really think you need a swamp tour, look for one that focuses on conservation. This was just awful.

Thank you for your feedback. We do not have ownership over Oak Alley, as our company only transport guests to and from the plantation. However, we will gladly forward your feedback to Oak Alley. As far as the swamp tour, we understand that everyone's expectation of the tour is different. Feeding wild alligators is legal in the state of Louisiana. Although, what we give them is more of a light snack, as they need to consume more to survive. They are the top predators in the swamp and they do not rely on humans to survive. Our purpose is to only draw them to the boat for a closer experience for our guest. We appreciate that you care about the wildlife and we can assure you that the feeling is mutual.

The plantation tour was very good. The swamp tour was pretty hohum. I wouldn't do the swamp tour again. I would absolutely recommend the Oak Alley tour but drop the swamp tour
