We had a wonderful experience at Oak Alley Plantation. Our day started off great, we were picked up by the shuttle at our hotel located in the French Quarter. During our drive to our first stop, the driver who was not officially a tour guide, but he was excellent in sharing so many things about New Orleans, the history, information about Katrina, he gave us pointers and he had a great sense of humor.
Oak Alley Plantation is absolutely beautiful! Being under the huge oak trees was breathtaking. I just wanted to capture a picture of every direction that I turned to. The tour guides were very informative and thorough, only available to tour inside the Big House. Being indoors helped us cool off for a bit as the weather was very hot and humid. Outside is a self guided tour, there was plenty of time to walk around and see all there was to see. There is a cute gift shop where you can pick up a sandwich or wrap and drink from the deli. They also have a small restaurant, but time was limited so I opted for a sandwich from the deli. We had plenty of time to walk around the plantation, took many pictures, heard the birds chirp and saw the growing sugar cane fields.
The swamp tour was another great experience. Our tour guide was Jason, he was funny, very informative, seemed to really enjoy what he does and we all learned a lot and enjoyed every moment of the tour. The boats were comfortable, the can fit 5 people to a row and they have a place under your seat where you can place your bag or personal belongings while on the tour. I would highly recommend both trips to friends and family. Until next time!
