Your swamp tour is only 35 minutes from New Orleans, yet a world apart. This New Orleans air-boat tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour, part thrill ride. You will travel at high speeds in the 6 or 9 passenger boat, then slow down and stop for photo opportunities. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our air-boats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view, and every seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife. Yes, gators will get close, very close. So close, that you will be able to look into those reptilian eyes. Alligators do hibernate in the colder months, but our experienced captains know where to look for them. On average, during the winter, you'll have better than a 50/50 chance of seeing a "gator". In the warmer months, you will see a gator. Every New Orleans air-boat tour is unique and we never know what will be around the next corner. The area toured is a combination of swamp, marsh and lake. So, you may see anything from a Bald Eagle to a pelican to Osprey to an owl. It really is that diverse. The air-boats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine that will produce speeds of up to 35 miles an hour. They are propelled by a huge fan that will blow air from the back of the boat in excess of 200 miles an hour. These tours are truly a blast! They ride in inches of water and go where traditional boats cannot go. These boats were designed to take you to inaccessible areas of the swamp, places that you cannot reach by foot or car. It is truly a unique experience.
2
Oak Alley Plantation
In combination with the airboat tour, you'll also visit the Oak Alley Plantation, which was built in 1837, with a 1/4 mile path, from River Road to the plantation house, lined with twenty-eight evenly spaced Oaks. There are additional attractions on the grounds which includes a restaurant, cafe and gift shop. The choice is yours how you would like to use your free hour.

Our driver out to the plantation, Gary, was so great! Made the ride fun and I really enjoyed hearing his story. He was very knowledgeable. Oak Alley was beautiful and I enjoyed learning the history, good and the bad. The restaurant at oak alley was some of the best food we had on our trip. The weather wasn’t the best for our swamp tour but our guide was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. Eye opening information related to swamp ecosystems and conservation.

Unbelievable tour!! Highly recommend. Oak Alley plantation is absolutely beautiful. The tour of the main house was perfect and just the right amount of time. Nice gift shop and cafe, and definitely try a refreshing mint julep. The airboat tour was the highlight of our trip. Captain Matt navigated the canals and bayou and was so knowledgeable. We definitely saw lots of gators. Five stars because of the small airboat tour, captain Matt, and the tour guide and team at Oak Alley Things that could make it that much better include clear communication. For example; 1. Letting people know that your going to switch buses, we switched buses 4 times! 2. Once on the second bus it was not announced if we were doing the plantation or the swap tour first. 3. Let people know the time you’ll be on the bus going between stops, we stopped for one lady who desperately had to go to the bathroom. 4. Figure out payment from guests at the appropriate time, and don’t hold up the tour doing so. We spent 15min in the parking lot dealing with different people paying for their tours, and refunding people, which held up the next bus that was waiting on the side of the road. 5. On the way back (the last bus) we understood that we would get dropped back off at our hotel. While on canal street the driver yelled out a bunch of hotel names, I confirmed twice that it was our hotel stop and he said yes get off and walk that way. Not ideal for my senior mother, as it was a 10min walk down Bourbon and back to our hotel.
