This tour departs from Orcas Island. The island can only be reached by the Washington State Ferry System. If your party is not already on island we recommend our Anacortes departure location.
Check in begins 30 minutes prior to departure.

They have two boats. One larger 40 people and one 20. Smaller is faster the larger more comfortable. Smaller can get to more locations. Boat was 40 min late to take off. Need to be on time and more communicative during boat. They could have said there is a xxx whale we are heading for. More a boat ride than whale watching.

The naturalist Brooke was definitely the best part of the trip...very informative commentary on the one small humpback we did see...we were hoping to see Orcas but were told once on the trip Orcas are really not in this area much anymore...the couple of sea lions and seals they found to us are something we see frequently where we live...so ..we were disappointed that Orcas were not seen as was the advertisement for the trip.

Perhaps I am jaded because I have been to many whale watching trips all over the world but 5 hours of motoring with only maybe 30 minutes of watching orcas at a distance was very underwhelming for me. They behave like a school of dolphins, no breaching etc. No other wildlife was seen except for common sea birds that you can see from shore. Most people seemed to be happy especially the captain. The young ladies that were self described wildlife specialists were the only bight spots of this trip. Also bring food and drinks because they only have cheap snacks for sale.

Thanks for your feedback. Glad you saw orca! They are most people's favorite. And yes I am guessing the only unhappy person was you. You are welcome for going the distance to show you one of the rarest animals on the planet. What is disappointing is your appreciation of nature. We stay at 100 yards away from humpbacks and 200 yards from Orca as law dictates. The views from these distances are amazing. The are the size of buses. We also always shoot to spend an hour with whales. So, the other thing underwhelming about you is your sense of time. Glad you enjoyed our passionate crew! Cheers
