Phil did a really good job of telling us about Portland. Very pleasant and positive. Somehow the tour was between good and really good. Left us feeling that there is not much to see in Portland, and I think that may be the wrong impression. The Chinese garden, while pretty, was just ok. I would rather have had the half hour at Powell Books and the food trucks. The Japanese Garden and zoo interested me as well. Enjoyed the Pitcock mansion the most. Could have spent more time there. Also enjoyed driving around and seeing architectural features and Portland State U. Enjoyed last year's food tour more and got a lot of info in addition to eating.
Absolutely great tour. Our guide for the day was Gunnar, and as we were the only customers that morning, we got a VIP tour from Gunnar. As he had a Norwegian father and we live in Norway, the tour got even more personal!
Our guide was pretty awesome. She had a lot of energy and some good stories.
That being said, the tour felt really rushed. We didn't really get to take in the city and our Rose Garden stop was cut really short. I think there was just so much more to see and learn and it could have been better organized. It didn't leave me with a real desire to want to stay longer or learn more about Portland.
