This was an outstanding day trip, traversing a variety of passageways around Prince William Sound. The crew was super friendly, the on-board accommodations excellent, and the lunch delicious. We came to stop whenever wildlife was spotted so everyone could take a look. We spent time near Surprise Glacier to watch for calving. It was a perfect way to end our Princess cruise: we disembarked, stowed our luggage with Phillips at 9 AM so we could explore Whittier, boarded at 11:45, enjoyed the cruise (with warm cookies served mid-afternoon), and then were driven to the airport in Anchorage for our return flight. We were much closer to the water and sea mammals on this boat than we were on the cruise ship so the view was much better. They had binoculars for rent, and there was US ranger narration. I cannot recommend this more highly!!

This was my favorite thing to do during our two week stay in Alaska. I originally was going to do a boat tour out of Seward, but read that in some cases people got sea sick on the Seward tours...not for me. Since we were winging it I decided to do this tour and I cannot say enough good things about it. The park ranger was great and very helpful. I had a great seat on the second deck up near the front of the boat. The food was good and hot. They feed you just after the boat pulls away from the dock. We saw some small calving of the glaciers and the captain stayed in certain areas for a good length of time so pictures could be taken or have things occur. When it came to animals we had our share of picture taking. We even saw a bear, besides a whole host of sea life and birds. We took the Phillips 26 glacier tour.

We went on the Kenai tour to see wildlife and the 26 glacier cruise to see the glaciers, but were pleasantly surprised at how much wildlife we actually saw on this cruise in addition tto the many glaciers. We saw wild goats, Dall porpoises, stellar seals, otters, and eagles, but the highlight of the trip came near the end of the cruise when we saw a mother humpback whale and her baby. The baby was really putting on a show wiith breaching and everything. The glaciers were wonderful to see, as we expected that many of them would be from a distance. We were very pleased that we at least saw some mild calving at Surprise glacier. Cruising through the icebergs was also a real thrill. The cruise lasted about five and a half hours, but really seemed to go by fast as there was so much to see and do. We had booked back in January and requested a window seat on the first floor, and were given a window seat near the front door, possibly the best seat in the house. I was not disappointed at all not to be able to go outside when the boat was moving, as we were able to get great photos even from the windows. The only thing that could have been better would have been the fried cod as it was a little soggy on the bottom which was placed on a bed of potato chips, but I know it must be challenging feeding that large a group of people on an excursion boat. I consider this one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. If you have a chance, you should really take this cruise.
