Prescott National Forest

Ponderosa to Goldwater Lake This route is one of our favorites. It has a good mix of get your heart pumping off-road thrills and some of the most picturesque views you'll find. We keep this trip mostly in the tall pines with lots of steep ascents and descents and a few water crossings. We finish up with a 15 minute break at Goldwater lake for pictures and then return to the Square.

Going off roaming, especially the very less traveled “roads” we took was a bucket list item of mine. It was the perfect beautiful and majestic tour to check that off. Thank you Tom, it was awesome and you are fabulous!!

What a beautiful, fun & unique treat this was! We often have friends come to town and yearn to show them MORE of this wonderful area -- and this private adventure tour truly filled that bill! We loved ALL of it ... from getting to learn about & tour our forest backroads ... to experiencing some "darn good" expert hummer driving thru up, down, narrow ways & water ... to seeing wonderful wildlife up close ... to stopping at some gorgeous look-at points! We also really enjoyed Tom's stories and hospitality. He really knows his stuff!! By the end we felt like we had a new personal friend and can't wait to take another private (maybe custom?) off road adventure with him & Angry Ape Off-Road. We highly recommend.

My three friends and I decided to do their sunset tour using a Groupon we found. Our tour guide met us in his Hummer at the Hilton. On our way up to the viewpoint, he did a great job navigating the vehicle and talking up the history of Prescott and the lovely flora and fauna we would see on the way. We were delighted to see a lot of mule deer when we went! The views were spectacular! The sunset was amazing and there was even a thunderstorm behind us that treated us to lightning displays. His wife had come earlier to set up the comfortable seating by a propane fire and we were treated to yummy sweets we cooked on the fire and beverages. If anyone hasn't done this yet, I highly recommmend! Thanks, Tom and family for a wonderful tour.
