The guide was knowledgeable on a lot of topics, from plants to Native Americans and geology and I really liked it.
The guide kept talking during the whole trip (either you like chatty people or not).
The jeep stopped in 2 places : a park where we could take pics of Cathedral Rock and Mystic Vista.
BUT :
- we stopped only twice. Otherwise we were told to take pictures while the jeep was driving! In a jeep, people face you, so there are people just in front of the landscape you want to take a picture of. How ridiculous is that? There is no warning about it before you leave. It was our only sunset in Sedona and we could not go back the next day to take pictures of the wonderful rocks. I feel like the tour completely spoiled our experience there.
- we bought tickets trough Groupon for a vortex tour. This was definitely NOT a vortex tour. The guide kept saying stuff like " "YOU are the vortex" or "I don't believe in those things". Who cares if you do? I thought the purpose of the tour was to show and try to explain the phenomenon, not to listen to things like "we're all connected." or "When you go back home, I want you to look at a shell or a flower and see how the pattern is the same." Everything the guide said is basic scientific knowledge (like numbers, etc.). I would rather have him leaving us enjoying the places in silence rather than hearing him talking of things we already knew.
- if you are seated at the back of the jeep, you can't hear what the guide says when he drives. As he stops only twice, it means you might miss more than 1 hour of his speech.
- you have to add taxes (around $15) and gratuity to the Groupon price. If the tour had been goodm I wouldn't mind. But in the end, I feel that the whole thing was a scam. We'd have better gone to the places by ourselves.
