Despite the weather, our guide Luke maintained an upbeat and highly enthusiastic demeanour as he hit us with a tsunami of incredible knowledge whilst on this tour It’s incredible to think how many times we’ve visited Liberty and Island yet learned very little about its historic Luke was a goldmine of interesting factoids and delivered them in a fun and energetic style Will be looking to discover more tours (possibly Broadway) in our next inevitable visit

This was a private tour and while our guide was is very personable and was friendly to us, the tour lacked substance given the $400 investment for me and my daughter. We just didn’t get the kind of in depth historical perspective and insight we’d hoped to get. We had to ask questions to draw more out of our guide. She didn’t take us into the Statue of Liberty fort building and didn’t explain why. She didn’t take us to the museum part of Ellis island at all and was super light on any historical details regarding the reasons why immigrants fled their home countries. We’ve done several viator and other trip advisor tours in Europe and Latin America and this was by far the least rewarding and worst tour for the money. I would give it 1 star were it not for how nice the tour guide is but even that couldn’t make up for lack of substance.

Hi Doug, First of all, our guide informed us that you were unaware that this was a private tour, so it's clear you didn't exactly have the highest expectations beforehand or even knew what you signed up for. In regard to the information, we've never received this complaint before and your guide has dozens of 5 star reviews for this tour, so we're not exactly sure what you were expecting. As far as access to the fort, you did not have pedestal tickets, no tour company can provide them and we list that you will not be going inside on the listing. If you were interested in that, going inside would have helped us get you to where you could have purchased those tickets. As far as Ellis Island, no tour guides are allowed inside. We also DO talk about why people left their countries in detail, so you must not have been listening at that point. We're sorry you were disappointed, but as we've never received these complaints before for this tour, so this doesn't seem like it's an "us" problem.

A great private tour led by Cecilia, who was there early and was incredibly friendly and helpful, smoothing the whole day for us. She tailored the tour time and the historical information and details she shared with us to meet our preferences, including reducing walking time and building in lots of sit-down breaks to suit our needs. She also shared loads of contemporary information about living in NYC and took some great photos for us! Thanks, Cecilia!
