Just 2 blocks from Waikiki, Big Wave Dave is awesome. My partner & I had one day of lessons from Kevin (I think) who was sweet, encouraging and kind, and then we rented boards almost every day for the next few days. Everyone was friendly and easy-going, the boards were great, and Crystal, one of the owners, helped us pick boards that were right for our level (we have a little bit of experience, so not total beginners). Always happy to support woman-owned businesses as well!

My daughter and nephews took a surf lesson from Alika and they had a blast! My daughter liked it so much that she took 2 more private lessons during our vacation. All of the people at BWD were incredibly nice and encouraging. We are looking forward to returning next year.

My two sons and I tried out surfing for the first time with Big Wave Dave. Our instructor, Cody, took his time to explain the basics to us. He was very helpful in the water with lots of tips and motivation. The 3 of us did all eventually ride some waves with his help. The pictures that were available at the end of the lesson for purchase were very high quality. We had a great time!
