Cannot rate this tour highly enough. It was not only an informative tour, but it had great passion behind it. Our tour guide (whose name escapes me at the moment but to whom I am forever grateful) did not recite her knowledge like a worn out speech (although she had been doing this tour for over 10 years). There were many points when we all were crying, moved by her rendition of the events that had occurred in the Castro, both of triumph and loss. It was such a meaningful experience and I learnt so much about queer history. Interesting and moving, this tour will light your soul on fire. And if that isn't enough for you, our tour guide sensed our engagement and was happy to go overtime.

We took this tour and absolutely loved it. Kathy is informed, witty and really approachable. The history of the Castro is extraordinary. An absolute must.

Kathy at Cruising the Castro is a phenomenon. Not only is her passion and knowledge of the area and history endless, she also seems to know everybody that you meet. This tour offers an insight into the history and politics of the area and country, but what comes across most, is that this 45 block neighbourhood is a real community more like a small village than a big city. As you are walking around Kathy will be explaining historical landmarks ( I had no idea the rainbow flag had been around that long) whilst offering a cheery hello to locals that you pass on the street. Of all the walking tours I have done this was the most friendly and the one that offered a glimpse into a community instead of just site seeing. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
