Since we were staying in the Bay Area instead of downtown the company sent us to the “closest” hotel along their pick up route. This happened to be the Union square Hilton. The hotel is only 3 blocks from the BART. Getting off the Bart I felt fine but the 2 blocks the Hilton is actually off of we felt extremely unsafe and unclean. Large amount of homeless groups we had to walk through. Heavy drug area. Strong urine smell. My mother in law stepped in human poop. Doesn’t exactly put you in the mood to go wine tasting. This tour needs to be mindful where they are sending tourist that don’t know the city.
After getting on the bus we were provided with no water, which with as expensive as this tour is I would have expected.
We get to the Muir Woods and the bus driver informs us that we need to all purchase a day pass to the park. I assumed this was covered in my ticket. My family has a national park pass we left at home. Had I know this I would have brought it but again given the price of the ticket I assumed this would be covered. I don’t want to pay for a day pass to then only spend maybe an hour.
The first winery we visited was very good. Good wine, good atmosphere and good information.
The second winery was very bad. No information, no place to sit, hot, bad wine. Literally the bus patrons were lined up at the bus well before leaving time because they were done. The bus driver said the tour has never been there before, glad I was your Guinea pig. The last venue was nice and comfortable but didn’t fit the tour. It was more of a tap room. It was in an industrial area with no grape vines.
The bus driver was nice but didn’t provide me with any real information. We were told not to talk on the bus as he would be talking. This makes sense and is just polite however, he didn’t give valuable information just talked about growing up in the area. His mic also kept going in and out so we only could hear half of what he said. Not able to hear much and not able to talk, I slept. This was easy given each location had over an hour between them. Way to long.
They need to make safer bus pick up locations, include the Muir wood admission in ticket cost, give a face lift to the worn down buses and pick 3 wineries that are close together and of better quality.
Skip it.

We're glad we got to talk about your experience and that the next time you'll give our Guest Services staff a call before your tour so we can direct you to a better public transportation route to pick up point. Please contact Viator as we informed them about our Satisfaction Guarantee. We also checked and our tour description does say clearly that food/beverage and the Muir Woods entry fee is not included in this tour price. Thanks for understanding. We look forward to having you on a future tour with us.
