On our Secret Food Tour: San Francisco, the Mission District, you'll see how immigrants shaped the neighborhood by creating brilliant artwork, beautiful architecture and sharing their fantastic food! Originally home to Irish, German, and Italian immigrants, it is now the epicenter of San Francisco's Latino culture.

The Mission District is full of vibrant murals that offer a visual history lesson featuring themes ranging from cultural heritage to social-political statements. We will take a stroll through the neighborhood to get an up-close experience.

Food was pretty good overall but lack of explanation as to why the dishes were selected was disappointing. Total cost of all food was less than $20. Sharing a $1 desert with someone is ridiculous. Tour could have been much shorter given the content. Not very good value overall.

Our guides are known for being enthusiastic in sharing the stories behind the dishes and the culture of the city, so it’s disappointing to hear you felt there was a lack of explanation on this tour. We take this seriously and will certainly look into the matter to ensure future guests continue to get that rich context we’re proud of. As for the cost, we do aim to include a variety of curated tastings from local favorites, but also factor in the unique experience, guided tour, and insights into the city’s culinary scene as part of the overall value. Jamie was our guide for the SF food tour through the mission district. He was passionate about his food and local area history and guided us through the mission district on a culinary and cultural adventure. Loved the time spent viewing murals in between food stops. One of the best food tour guides I’ve had as he supplemented it with local and art history. Clearly loved the town he called home and saw more of the area than I thought we would have. Food choices on point too. Left happily full and culturally enriched. 10/10
