The half-day float with our guide, Sidney, was well organized and afforded spectacular views of the river and canyon area. Just long enough to feel like you’d had a nice excursion without feeling like you’d baked yourself to a crisp in the desert sun.
This said, I’d recommend the trip for families or bigger groups rather than solo travelers or couples. My wife and I were stuck in a raft with a family—not bad in itself—but the quality of the trip was marred considerably for us by a talkative, rather superior bunch who knew everything about everything, including everything that you know too (by the by), and wanted to make sure everyone knew it. At length and without surcease.
This was too bad, given the nonpareil beauty of the area and the gift of seeing it from the Rio Grande itself. Still—I’d advise travelers to think about the group dynamics before setting off.
