A couple hours with Oceanside Tours was a highlight of our trip to Carlsbad. We literally spent an hour with a massive pod of Dolphins. They were on all sides of the boat - at several points as we moved away the they followed us and seemed to be racing us! The captain and the guide were so kind and responsive to ALL the questions our group peppered them with. They have deep knowledge of whales, dolphins and sea lions - we couldn’t stump them. We were excited to see several whales as well. To give you an indication of how dedicated this team is to make a memory for their passengers, even as we were heading “up the line” back to port, he detoured so we could see two more. We’ve done several trips here in CA and in Hawaii and never been closer to the “action” or had such an engaging team. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Bring layers for when you are out on the water and then can peel off as it warms up closer to port. Good for all ages. Check out the free parking area detailed on their website and many fresh seafood restaurants next to their site for lunch or dinner.

The guides spotted a dolphin superpod and steered us over by it. We sat surrounded by hundreds of dolphins for a while. They knew how interested everyone was and allowed us to stay past our allotted time to really soak in what we were experiencing. The crew was very knowledgeable and approachable. Would highly recommend!!!!!

We booked this tour as part of a family vacation. The flat-bottom boat was very stable: easy to board on and off. They have a few discounts available - ask for one! On our afternoon tour we were privileged to see a HUGE pod of dolphins - the large group was at least a mile wide and a mile deep and consisted of thousands of dolphins leaping, swimming, and churning the water. It was quite the sight. Then, we saw a hunchback whale diving for food. It was a highly successful tour. The tour staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional. They also offer snacks and drinks for sale during the tour.
