The tour guide was awful! It started when we told him we were from the Detroit area. He made comments about who would want to live in Detroit and it being a ghost town. I encouraged him to come and visit Detroit again because it had improved. His statements were uncalled for. Strike one! The tour began at the Dealy Plaza. While standing alone with William my husband asked him about the rumors of three mysterious men being at the site during JFK’s assassination. William stated that was all just rumors. After we had Allred-boarded the van Willam announced to the group that there are conspiracy theories out there about three men being involved in JFK’s assassination and they are just rumors thought up in someone’s basement in Michigan. We were the only people on the tour from Michigan (and the other tourists knew this). His statement was rude, insulting, and unnecessary. Strike two! We rode into an area where we saw a few homeless people. William stated these people were not homeless that they were bums! Another unnecessary judgmental statement. Strike three! We rode into an area called Turtle Creek. There was a park in this area that had formerly been called Robert E. Lee park but the name had been changed to Turtle Creek park. William stated it was changed due to all of the ‘liberal revisionist’…but it was still known as Robert E. Lee park. Another unnecessary opinionated totally out of line comment. He’s OUT. We travel quite a bit and have used Viator numerous times. We have always thought of Viator as being top notch and partnering with top notch local tour guides/businesses. The mark has been totally missed with William (the name used in his pre-tour text). When we go on a tour we expect fact-filled information not personal, opinionated, rude, and insulting comments. We are aware that he has the right to have his own opinion on any subject…but not during a tour. Viator struck out having this guide representing their name. Looking forward to receiving your response. Sincerely, Charles and Robyn Burse
