After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

My mom and I booked the Maverick Helicopter/Ground Bus tour for on her birthday. Not only did Nate wish her a happy birthday immediately upon her arriving on the bus, but he made the 4 hour drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon informational, fun, accommodating, and smooth, despite a very windy day. Thank you Nate for entertaining us with knowledgeable stories about Arizona!

I loved this tour! Mark our tour guide was very personable sharing his knowledge of not only the canyon and parks, but along the way as well. Stops for gas were excellent times for us to pick up some food or a souvenir. Mark has an adventurous spirit and drew us into this adventure with his many facts and follies. He chose to accommodate his guests making us all to feel quite special. Scheduling with DeTours was easy and I even got to chat with Jeff the owner on the phone with my questions. Thanks, Mark and DeTours for this unforgettable vacation trip!

Everything from booking, lunch order, pickup, drop off was very smooth. Our tour guide Justin was amazing. He told us everything we wanted to know, needed to know and what we didn't think we needed to know. He facilitated our helicopter tour which was the highlight of our trip. He kept the trip interesting providing fun facts along the way. Very charismatic and friendly person. Truly a trip to remember.
