After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

Fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. The luxury van driver was very informative and made the trip enjoyable.

We looked at a lot of tours and reviews before selecting the Colors and Canyons Tour from our hotel in Scottsdale. One of my big concerns was the van as we would be in it for many hours. There are 3 pairs of seats on the left side 3 single seats on the right including the one beside the driver. There is a row of 4 across the back. The chairs are very comfortable captain's chairs. The windows are large with a great view for everyone. There is a large center isle. All in all, a roomy comfortable van. Next, the driver, Dan, Dan the Man, Dan the Man Who Drives The Van! He was wonderful, knowledgeable of EVERYTHING Arizona, the flora, fauna, history, geography, current events. We said he was like a walking encyclopedia. He was entertaining, stopped frequently for bathroom and snack breaks and photo ops. He was the best. The helicopter ride was beautiful. Our pilot was knowledgeable. I would advise taking your Dramamine if you get car sick... All in all and expensive but once in a lifetime trip that we are happy we did.

If you have a free day in Phoenix, I would highly recommend this adventure. Dan was a great host and provided so much history and insights into the area. The helicopter trip is not to be missed. It provides such a great perspective of the majesty and beauty of the canyon.
