The company advertised pickup at most SF motels, yet they wouldn’t pick us up at the Hyatt Centric at Fisherman’s Wharf. We had to be a few blocks away for a 7:30 pm pickup at a car rental place, but pickup was closer to 8 am. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable, but we were in a rental van that he couldn’t get the sound system to work, and then that was all we could say about our guide as he really wasn’t helpful otherwise. The Castle was GREAT! Otherwise I could have done without the other two wineries. At the second one they would talk , give us the wine and then wouldn’t come back for such a long time before another tasting. The third winery was beautiful but the one pouring tasted each wine while talking and again, the three wine tastings were far too long between. If I had it to do over again I would find another castle tour. The castle was worth the day. Would highly recommend that site and tasting but go with a different tour company.

Thanks for your commentary about your Small Group Napa Valley tour. We apologize for the change to your pickup location...as your guide explained, the Chinese New Year parade threw our normal morning hotel pickups off. Also, good to hear you enjoyed the Castle. Sorry to hear you were not fond of the other wineries. We offer a variety of family estate wineries that have unique experiences but appreciate your feedback. Please come back and try our Muir Woods and Wine tour...I think you'll enjoy it!

So overall, my family and I had a great time. It was chilly—low 50s—but bearable. I loved the first winery although I feel like we didn’t have enough time to truly enjoy everything. The second winery along with the third winery were pretty nice. So now the negatives: I didn’t like how we didn’t get tours of the actual vineyards. It felt more like a tasting. That’s not what I thought I was signing up for so I was pretty disappointed. Next, I didn’t like how the driver was always near by. It felt like we were being babysat. Lastly, didn’t like how we had to “hang out” with everyone in our group. I’ve been on previous wine tours where I felt the freedom to explore and venture out. If you like the idea of just tasting wine, hanging with the same group of strangers for 10 hours and feeling monitored by your driver the whole time then I guess this trip is right up your alley. If you enjoy actually exploring the vineyards and having the freedom to do your own thing then this is NOT for you.

Good to hear that your family had a great time. Regarding your disappointment, this Napa Valley experience is a "small group tour" with a wine enthusiast guide and one that most everyone considers amazing. They often form friendships that outlast the tour itself. What you are describing is "transportation" to Napa where a driver waits in vehicle ready to take you to the next winery. These sorts of options are plentiful and if that is your preference they can easily be found online. A caution, however, is that they typically require you to make your own winery reservations and rarely include the Castello di Amorosa and other hard-to-come-by reservations. Please contact our Guest Services office so we can make good on our Satisfaction Guarantee. 415-357-0700.
