On this tour you will experience the best of both: a swamp tour and an airboat ride. You will travel at high speeds in the airboat then slow down and stop for pictures. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. These airboats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. Every airboat seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife. Yes, gators will get close, real close. So close that you will be able to look into those reptilian eyes. Alligators do hibernate in the colder months, but the experienced captains know where to look for them. On average, during the winter, you have better than a 50/50 chance of seeing a gator. In the warmer months, you will always see a gator. Every New Orleans Airboat Tour is unique and you never know what will be around the next corner. The area toured is a combination of Swamp, Marsh and Lake. So you may see anything from a Bald Eagle to a Pelican to Osprey our even an Owl, its that diverse. The airboats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine that will produce speeds of up to 35 miles an hour. They are propelled by a huge fan that will blow air from the back of the boat in excess of 200 miles an hour. These tours are truly a blast! They ride in inches of water and go places where traditional boats cannot go. The boats were designed to take you to inaccessible areas of the swamp, places that you cannot reach by foot or car. It is a unique experience.

Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. These airboats have stadium seating so the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. Every seat is great for viewing the wildlife. Yes, gators will get close - real close! Alligators do hibernate in the colder months, but the experienced captains know where to look for them. On average, during the winter, you have better than a 50/50 chance of seeing a gator. In the warmer months, you will always see a gator. You may also see bald eagles, pelicans, osprey, or owls. Airboats reach speeds of up to 35 miles an hour, and are propelled by a huge fan that will blow air from the back of the boat in excess of 200 miles an hour. These tours are truly a blast! They ride in inches of water and go places where traditional boats cannot go.

This was a fabulous tour - best thing we did in New Orleans. It was an unforgettable experience with Rocky (I think that was his name) who was a FANTASTIC tour guide. We saw dozens of alligators and he got them so close to the boat so we could experience it up close! The boat zipped around the waterways and the ride was exciting - then we would slow down when he spotted cool wildlife (alligators, eagles, egrets and other cool birds) and he would stop the boat so we could get great pictures. You could not ask for a better tour guide - he also shared a ton of information about the bayou, the swamps and marshland and the scenery was beautiful. I know you can never guarantee that you will see alligators but we saw dozens and it was well worth it!

This was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans!!! I think our tour guides name was Rocky - I wish I remembered for sure because he was FANTASTIC! We saw dozens of gators and he had them right up on the boat practically eating out of his hand. He made sure that we got up close to them and could get great pictures. I highly recommend the small boat tour as I was in the middle and still had unobstructed views of the swamp the entire time. We zipped around the water and the ride was exciting and fun - then we would slow down in the smaller waterways and he would stop the boat to see beautiful birds (eagles, egrets and other colorful birds) and alligators. We got to hold a baby alligator and Rocky was a wealth of knowledge about the swamp, marshland and bayou. Take this trip and you will not regret it!

Even with the rain, our experience couldn’t have been better! Our tour guide went above and beyond to ensure we spotted alligators despite the weather. The airboat ride truly was incredible, thank you for an unforgettable adventure!
