Join us on a full-day, small-group wine tour of the Spectacular North Sonoma County wine country! You’ll visit three charming, back roads wineries and be served a picnic lunch in an idyllic winery setting. Your tour guide will tell fascinating stories and share many interesting tidbits about local history, culture and wine making. Our specialty is intimate, light hearted and truly memorable experiences. Once the tour concludes, you will be dropped off from where you were picked up. The tour typically has 8-12 guests on board.

Your tour will begin with pickup from your Sonoma County hotel. Depending on where you are staying will define the tour region that you will be visiting. If your accommodations are outside of the winery region, you can arrange to meet us a general meeting spot in either Healdsburg or Santa Rosa. Tour visits 3 wineries that change daily.

A small group tour with Platypus (we had four in our group) allows you to experience the broad variety of wineries in Santa Rosa wine country. Our tour guide picked us up at our hotel, took us to four wineries, and gave us an excellent and comprehensive description of the wine making process - from the history and practice of growing the grapes right through to the wine in the glass ready for tasting. The character of each winery varied, from the well-groomed country style where the person behind the bar was very knowledgeable, but not the actual vintner, to the rustic farm shed winery where the owner and wine maker gave us an intimate view of the business and pleasure of following his passion. Our guide, Chris, provided us with a prepared light picnic lunch and welcome, friendly patter as we made our way through the rich vineyard country north of Santa Rosa.

We had a super host / driver in BOB. We highly recommend him! Lots of knowledge and the 4 places he selected for us to visit were diverse and yet offered some of the best wines we've ever had a chance to taste. We actually were served by 2 of the winery owners. We definitely will be back again.

Bob our tour guide selected small, fantastic wineries for us to visit. His knowledge and that of the winery owners we had the opportunity to meet was amazing. And the wines....wow! And the folks that accompanied us (there were only 7 of us) were as excited as we were about the tour and charming which made the day that much more fun. We have 9 bottles and joined a wine club or 2! This wine tour and Bob exceeded our expectations and if/when we visit this area again we will do another Platypus wine tour for sure.
