Museums can be overwhelming and in a city such as DC and the Smithsonian where to start isn’t easy. So we decided to book a guided tour which was worth it. We got to see the highlights in a structured order with great insights by our guide. We were lucky as there was only 4 of us on the tour so we were able to move quicker and got a more intimate perspective. Worth it.

There was WAY too much time spent on dresses of first ladies and Julia Childs kitchen. This was done at the expense of the entire transportation exhibit and a very short tour of the military exhibit.

I had Brenda as my guide and she was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly, engaging, she knew her history and she made the exhibits come alive. The Smithsonian museums have amazing collections so I am sure I would have enjoyed the visit regardless, but having Brenda as a guide made it that much more impressive.
