This tour was amazing! Vidu was my driver and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to take me on this tour. He personalised the trip so he could make sure that I seen everything I was interested in. The turtle conservation was my highlight from learning about the turtles to being able to release one back into the ocean, an incredible experience. The river boat ride was also another highlight, I got to hold a baby crocodile and drink a king coconut. The stilt fishing was also lovely to see and the walk from Galle fort to the lighthouse was full of beautiful scenery. As a female solo traveller I felt completely safe at all times and I have left Sri Lanka with amazing memories after this tour. Highly recommend doing this tour with Vidu!

Vidu is an exceptional guide. He is professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful and generally committed to giving tourists the best experience of Sri Lanka that he can. I had a chance to take a river cruise and learn how cinnamon is made, get an Ayurvedic massage and go to the mask museum, have a dip in the Indian Ocean and see the turtles being fed, sample delicious Sri Lankan food and watch Kandyan dances. And to top it off, Vidu is an excellent driver. Thank you!

We booked this excursion as an alternative to the ship’s excursion, this was our 2nd day in Colombo. Unfortunately taxis were not allowed into port area on the 2nd day and we had to use the shuttle bus, which was 1/2hr each way to the port gate. However, our driver Ameen, was ready and waitin, we travelled in a very comfortable ac suv, which was a blessing considering the distance we travelled. It was our choice to make some adjustments to the itinerary and unfortunately we didn’t get as far down as Galle due to traffic and time restraints, Ameed made sure we got the most from our day. We visited Kalutara temple (free) The turtle sanctuary was amazing$25pp entry fee but so worth it, I got to stroke a turtle. The boat trip in the River Madu $22 pp was an experience, got to see a baby crocodile basking on a branch and a visit the monks retreat in one of the islands, where we were also blessed by the senior monk. We didn’t do the fish farm element of the boat trip, although we were shown how cinnamon was made. Bear in mind you need Sri Lankan rupees for purchases, they accept usd but give minimal change in rupees! We had a late lunch in a nice restaurant. Be mindful of last shuttle time, if you book this trip when visiting on a cruise, the traffic back to port is very very congested!
