Mainly wanted to see the space shuttle and carrier and the new Apollo 50th Anniversary display. Waited for tram to take us out there in hot temperatures. Fan only hits you if you are lucky one next to it. Told us to get in line at 11:15 for 11:30 tour. Tour left almost 10 minutes late. Would not recommend to friends unless they have children. Would have taken other tours but did not want to battle heat. Also felt the recommendations to not take elevator but take the 87 steps unless you absolutely could not walk was a little uncalled for and made me feel like I had to walk up which I did.

If you suffer from anxiety, stay far away from this place. Me, my bf and our 13 yr old daughter thought this would be a great idea since everyone talks about it, wrong, wrong wrong!! I hated it so much, she hated it so much! I wanted a refund, $90 for 3 ppl. We went Sunday August 11th (I assumed people would be back to school shopping) First of all, the hours of operation suck, 9am to 6pm? How about 11am to 7pm or 8pm? We are on vacation in Galveston and drove to Houston for this, trying to get in a breakfast before heading here was near impossible to be there by 9am. 2nd, the stupid tram!! OMG!!! Cables? The tours are segregated by cables...and when the waiting area is full, you can't see the stupid cables. You get in front of about 6 doors, you have no idea what to do, we just took one which seemed to be the least popular of the 3 tours. It was okay. We were taken to a mock Mission Control center that would eventually lead astronauts to Mars in the future, the most interesting part was Jacob who spoke so passionately about future missions to Mars. After that, we had no way to make the 2 others tours or we would of run out of time to check out everything because the wait was so long. So back in the main area...messy!!! It's just a big open room with random interactions everywhere. There was no rhyme or reason to how anything was laid out, if you suffer from anxiety like myself, you are in for a panic. We went to Moody Gardens the day before, so much better. We watched the EMU movie, that was nice and relaxing and quiet, I could of stayed there all day. Even the stupid gift shop sucked, they were sold out of the sizes we wanted for 3 different shirts. If you have really small kids that need to run around and be crazy, this is the place for you. Its nothing more than a big playground.

What a FUN way to spend the day for the whole family. After looking at all options, we chose to do the Citipass to take advantage of HUGE savings for all we wanted to do this week including the space center. We drove from the airport area and it was easy to get to. Though WAZE and Google maps took us to the astronaut entrance instead of the visitor entrance. Fortunately the guards were in great humor and so helpful- even on a Saturday. Signage could definitely be improved to get there as well as once you arrive for parking as well as entering in the building. We bought our citipass electronically but there were no signs telling us we could walk in and go directly to guest services so we waiting in line to buy tickets and then waited in a second line to get our citipass info. While at guest services, we inquired about tickets needed for mission control tour and were told it was an additional cost which didn't jive what we had read online. We asked 2 people. We decided to find someone else to ask of authority after a stop at the CLEAN restroom. Sasha, a space explorer, saw us and stopped and asked if we needed help. We explained our confusion and she cleared it up. No additional purchase needed. THere were 2 tram tours. 1 you get in line and get on tram. The other was signed up for on a list by appointed time. ANd both were part of admission. Thank you Sasha. The tram tours were fantastic. Such great information about the future with Mars and human exploration. Lots of history. And even on a super hot day, because the tram moved, you get a small breeze. Bring water..but don't drink alot as there is no bathroom on the tram tour. Then we came back to the base visitors area and spent hours combing through so much more interactive displays. There was even hands on stuff for the kids about understanding the 7 kinds of light. It was an experiment they participated in and then answered a couple of questions as the guy there then explained more. SUPER interesting. So many many highlights from the Mars stuff to ISS (international space station) to history. Simulations too. One thing was excessive was the cost for the fun pics they take as you get in line for the tram tour. $27 for an 8x11 page of 4 pics of you and your family. $10...okay..that would be high but I'd have done it. $27 was a rip off. That being said, this is so worth the time of the drive. Our son had a BLAST. My hubby and I enjoyed it very much too. Lots of walking, places to sit. Oh and opportunity to see a real life shuttle on top of an airplane.
