I was lucky enough to spend most of my youth here, watching community members and tribal leaders unite to share in the values I hold closest to me now. I would not be who I am today without this property and the history and legacy David preserves. This has been a historical experience for nearly a century in the Tampa Bay area. Thank you David, Doris, Eric, and the countless volunteers who have contributed over the years. Love you all.
A little backstory...My grandmother Frances and grandpa Happy established their home under a canopy of gnarled banyan trees on this land. They held a deep passion and care for nature and passed the fruits of their care taking along the family tree to us. As young children we played amongst the peacocks, eating from the gardens of starfruit and mint leaves, and hearing stories of harvesting the wild mollusks, finding a sense of home - of something worth preserving.
As the gulf community has developed, we’ve witnessed the decay and change of the surrounding areas from immediate environmental pressures and Eric, Doris, David, and so many other community members who have volunteered over the years have managed to keep this area sacred and ecologically sound so the community can continue to enjoy it. We've all taken on deep ancestral pain imagining the potential passing of such a pure land, but also a sense of responsibility to find solutions to pressing ecological concerns. This space has brought likeminded people together to work on those and many other social justice causes.
Coming to this land will serve to fuel your propensity towards creative living, community building, and environmental problem solving. You will leave feeling optimistic and connected to something greater than yourself. Please visit and enjoy ♥

Thank you, cousin Heather, for sharing your story and perspective, and for your dedication to our family! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review for the tour, and you are, of course, always welcome back here. Thanks for everything that you do to promote good stewardship of the earth. Happy and Frances would be proud of you, as I know your parents are!
