We were visiting FL and made reservations for this tour ahead of time, knowing it would take about 45 minutes to drive to the destination. We received a call 15 minutes before we needed to leave cautioning that the tour may or may not be cancelled due to weather. Since it was a calm, beautiful day, we assumed everything would go as planned. Even if we had been granted a late start to give us time to arrive, we still would have had to wait around and stay ready to go, wondering what the plan would be. It wasn't until we arrived at the destination that we were told weather conditions were not good and that our tour was canceled - wind was the reason. When I pushed back, Derek patronizingly explained that he has been a captain for many years and communicates with the Coast Guard regularly. Weather should not be a surprise in this day and age, especially for someone who claims to be an experienced captain. Ever heard of wind forecasting applications such as Windy? Basic courtesy would have dictated that we be warned the day prior. Regardless, can these boats not handle even a single adverse condition? Something doesn't add up - I'm beginning to suspect he didn't have enough reservations to make it what he felt would be worth his while. The uncertainty of commitment makes me give this a 0 out of 10 - unless you're within walking distance - so you don't end up wasting half of a beautiful day in Florida.
